How to Play

You're today's spelling bee contestant. Listen carefully, ask the judge for clues, and spell the word correctly. Return daily to build your streak, earn achievements, and track progress.

1

A new word, every day

Everyone gets the same word each day. It resets at local midnight, so come back daily to keep the streak alive.

2

Hear the word

Tap "Hear Today's Spellbound" to listen to the word — replay it as many times as you need.

3

Ask the Judge

Stuck? Reveal clues in any order: Definition, Part of Speech, Origin, or hear it In a Sentence. Each hint you open lowers your star rating for the day, so use them wisely.

4

Spell it out

Type the word into the letter boxes, then tap Check Spelling once every box is filled.

5

Two tries

Get it wrong and you're not done — any letters you placed correctly lock in place, and you get one more try to fill in the rest. Miss the second try and the word is revealed.

6

See your results

Get the meaning, origin, and a fun fact about the word, plus your time, tries used, hints used, and star rating.

Star rating

Streaks, achievements & stats

Tips for a three-star day

Listen to the word a couple of times before typing anything — replaying it costs nothing, unlike a hint. If the spelling still feels uncertain, Origin is often the cheapest clue to crack a tricky word: knowing a word came through French or Latin narrows down which letter patterns are actually in play. And if your first try comes back partly wrong, don't panic — take a breath, reread which letters locked in, and use that as a scaffold for the second.
